2009 Art Calendar
Call For Artists
The North River Arts Society invites artists to enter
the 2009 Art Calendar Competition and Exhibit.
Eligible Work
Open to all artists, professional and amateur, working in 2-D: painting, drawing, printmaking, and mixed media. No photography will be accepted.
All art must be the original work of the applicant, created without the aid of an instructor.
In the event of a sale, the NRAS will take a 30 percent commission.
Competition Guidelines
You may submit up to four images.
There is an entry fee of $10 per image.
Artwork should be submitted in slide form or as digital images on disc (no emails please).
Slides must be clearly labeled on the front with your name, title, size, and medium. Please indicate the top with an arrow (slides can be produced by sending images to www.gammatech.com).
Digital images must be in jpeg format, 300 DPI, 10h wide and labeled with the title of the artwork.
Include a completed entry form,
your updated reLsumeL, and
a SASE (stamped, self-addressed envelope).
Entries not conforming to the above requirements
will not be considered.
Entries must be sent by July 9, 2007. Entries postmarked after July 9, 2007 will not be accepted.

The Exhibit
Acceptance & Notification
Artists will be notified by July 30, 2007 as to whether or not they have been selected as a finalist for the calendar exhibition.
Sixty artistsf works will be selected for the exhibit which will be held in Marshfield Hills, MA at the
G.A.R. Hall Gallery
September 14th - 23rd, 2007.
Only one artwork per artist will be selected for the exhibit.
Artwork Drop-Off
Accepted artwork must be delivered to the North River Arts Society by September 7, 2007 for exhibit installation. Artwork delivery is the responsibility of the artist. If your work is accepted, additional delivery and shipping information will be sent to you.
The Art Calendar
The thirteen Calendar Award winners | one cover and twelve month award winners | for the 2009 Art Calendar will be announced at the Opening Reception Friday, October 20th, 2007 ~7:00-10:00 pm.
The Juror | Maggie Price has been painting for many years, and for over 14 years in the medium of soft pastel. She is a Signature Member of the Pastel Society of New Mexico, Plein Air New Mexico, and APOW; and a Juried Associate Member of the Pastel Society of America. She was a co-founder of The Pastel Journal magazine, an internationally-distributed magazine for pastel artists with over 40,000 readers. Price was editor of the magazine for nearly five years and has written over 60 articles about pastel art and artists. She continues to write regularly for The Pastel Journal, and also writes for Artistfs Magazine, Artistfs Sketchbook and Watercolor Magic. Reproductions of her paintings have been included in The Pastel Journal and Artistfs Magazine. Price teaches painting workshops around the U.S. and in foreign countries.
