Come explore the beautiful, portable, hand sewing craft of English Paper Piecing. Play with color and pattern repetition as you create kaleidoscopes with fabric. In this class you will learn basic fussy cutting, basting, and stitching techniques using Lucy Boston’s Pattern of the Crosses. Fabric and paper templates will be provided to complete 3-4 blocks.
Class fee includes 1 Lucy Boston Kit per student.
About the Instructor: Marissa Flynn
Marissa Flynn has always been a maker at heart. As a young mother, she gravitated toward the portable, hand sewing art of English Paper Piecing. EPP brought her the freedom to create wherever and whenever she found a pocket of time, while also being a slow, meditative craft. When her family moved abroad to Asia, this portable craft accompanied her and was a tool she relied on to establish community. Most recently, while living in Seoul, South Korea, Marissa began a weekly fiber arts meet up, where women came together to craft and share their experiences of life abroad. Now, after almost six years away from home, her family is settling back into life on the South Shore. Materials List:
-clear acrylic ruler or 1” honeycomb acrylic template
-Embroidery scissors
-Milliner’s needles in size 9-11
-Spool of all purpose thread in cream or light gray
-Fabric scissors or a rotary cutter and small self-healing cutting mat (8x11)
-Glue stick
-Seam ripper
