In this unique learning opportunity, figure painter Corey Pitkin will demonstrate two similar but distinct approaches to working from a live model in two different mediums: soft pastel and oil paint. On day one Pitkin will demonstrate using soft pastel and other dry media techniques including charcoal and PanPastel. On day 2 the focus will shift to oil painting using a simplified palette while discussing the creative opportunities that each medium can bring. This workshop is open to artist working in charcoal, pastel, or oil paint. Exploring all of the mediums being demonstrated is encouraged by not required. Mornings will begin with demonstrations and group discussion, and during the afternoons students will work in their selected media(s) while Pitkin provides individual guidance. A live nude model will be onsite for both days. Photographs of the model are not allowed.
Materials List: This workshop is open to soft pastel, PanPastel, and oil. Artists should be experienced in the medium of choice before the workshop. Please see materials lists below.
